Greenhouse in ZIN Brussels A Deforche Construction Group Project

Forzon, a subsidiary of the Deforche Construction Group, has ingeniously integrated a greenhouse into the ZIN building in Belgium. This innovative space transitions between a concealed interior garden in winter and a public area with open doors in summer, offering versatility and functionality.

Climate Control Technology

At the core of the architectural design is the greenhouse’s advanced climate control technology. This system features automated mechanisms for ventilation, sun shading, and irrigation. The glass roof, designed with asymmetric saddle shapes, includes photovoltaic cells on the sloping sides, enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability.

Irrigation System

The greenhouse is equipped with a comprehensive irrigation system. Adjustable timers control the irrigation process, allowing for precise regulation and optimization of the watering schedule. This well-thought-out design ensures the creation of an ideal climate, benefiting both people and plants.

Structural Elements

Forzon designed the greenhouse’s steel structure, aluminum facades, and glass roofs. The glass roofs are composed of a series of asymmetrical gable roofs, adding to the building’s unique architectural appeal.

Sustainable Development

The greenhouse is constructed using sustainable product development methods and holds Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certification. This certification emphasizes the use of materials that can be reused in future generations, aligning with principles of environmental sustainability and responsible resource use throughout the greenhouse’s lifecycle.
